Lil Wayne Sued By Producer for $20 Million

Lil Wayne is being sued in the region of $20 million by a producer who worked with the rapper and claims he is yet to be paid. ‘Dezzle’ claims that he is still owed money for his work on the rapper’s 2008 hit ‘Lollipop’.

According to MTV News, Dezzle (real name Darius Harrison) has chosen to file a lawsuit against the rap star, alleging that he is still to be paid money from sales of the single and the platinum-selling album that it was featured on, ‘Tha Carter III’.

The track went to Number One in the US singles chart, winning a Grammy in 2009 for Best Rap Song. The liner notes of ‘Tha Carter III’ list Harrison as co-producer on ‘Lollipop’, also claiming that the producer had a hand in six other tracks on the LP: ‘Whip It’, ‘Prostitute 2’, ’Action’, ‘Mrs. Officer’ and ‘Let the Beat Build’.

It is not the first time that Lil Wayne has clashed with Harrison. In 2009 the producer sued Wayne for $2.5 million over unpaid royalties from another single, ‘Mrs Officer’. As well as the legal disputes with Harrison, Lil Wayne has been sued a total of four other times in the past five years. Most recently the rapper was charged for cancelling a series of shows in 2009 without just cause.

Meanwhile, Lil Wayne announced last week that he will be releasing his latest album. ‘Tha Carter IV’ on May 16th.
